Studio 522 Has Closed
After 27 years Angel, Mike and Jay have decided to close Studio 522. 2020 will long be remembered as an eventful year. But the headline events are not the reason for our closing. This was a second career for each of us and it has been an adventure. But we are now ready to start some new adventures.
3D animation gave us an exciting opportunity to pool our talents and make 3D animation more available to local companies and producers. We created countless animations, video productions and television commercials, for many clients in our 27 years. We’ve received numerous awards, including a couple Rocky Mountain Emmys. But most of the reward was in doing the work. We are grateful for all of the people we’ve met. Friends that we have made. And opportunities that were presented to us.
We started in a spare bedroom of Mike’s house in 1993. Our “522” was the street number of Mike’s house. Toy Story was not yet released. 3D was new, novel and almost magical . We think it still is. In fact, we’ve recently started working in 3D interactive. And while Studio 522 Productions will cease to exist, Mike and Jay will continue independently to work in 3D animation, 3D interactive, and some video production . We just won’t be full time any more. We will be pursuing other opportunities individually but will team up with each other for projects where that makes sense. If you have a project in mind, please feel free to contact either Mike or Jay.
